As usual my professor assigned us an essay and the topic I choose in relation to the book we read is one that really makes me think. Here's some of my thoughts on it. It's only a short bit 'cause all of it would just be too damn long.

Time travel is difficult for any person to perceive because time is a dimension of the mind. Though it can be measured, passed, leave signs, time and our theories of it are created from the human mind. We try to be in control by labeling and desensitizing ourselves by putting it into our everyday lives. There is one thing everyone owns that is proof of this, a watch or a clock. We have made ourselves slaves to time in an attempt to control what refuses to be controlled. Is it any wonder the concept of time travel was ever created? That in traveling through time we hope to escape the death grip it has on us? The thought of time and its passing is not a pleasant one. We all wish to avoid death and aging, and try to occupy ourselves so as not to think about it. Yet, it’s the literal passing that overrides the brain like nothing else. Since I was little, about age eight or so, the past, present, and future have clearly left their mark on my mind. To dwell on them too much throws me into a fit of being unable to wrap my mind around the concept. It’s not easy to explain, and probably shouldn’t, but the being and existing in time and the duration brings about an uncontrollable feeling of helplessness and unreality that throws my mind into a frenzy while trying to understand.
